So why are we called "The Pet Rescue Thrift Store?
If you have ever been to an Animal Shelter for any reason - whether you like animals or not - you probably left with some remorse and sadness. It doesn't matter how big and clean the facility is, nothing can take away the sad fact that many of the pets you just saw won't be alive tomorrow. Even some no-kill and "adoption guarantee" shelters have a percentage of animals that never get a second chance.
Since the Pet Rescue Thrift Store opened its doors on May 30, 2015, we have dedicated ourselves to helping these animals in need. As of writing this document (Oct. 17,2015), we have directly helped save 102 lives... and counting! The majority of them have been special needs: deformed, injured, underage, ill... the ones that most likely would not make it. In addition, we have indirectly assisted with many more rescue pets, through hosting adoption events, fundraising, and networking. If you've been to the Pet Rescue Thrift Store you've probably seen us bottle feeding baby kittens, administering vaccinations, or doing a fun photo shoot with a soon-to-be available foster pets. We are a small store located in an old building behind K-mart. You can't see us from the road, and we are hard to find, but we do mighty things!
So what does the future hold for the Pet Rescue Thrift Store? Our goal is to not rest until we put ourselves out of business; when there are no more homeless pets left, and we become obsolete. We are currently saving up to apply for our 501(c)(3), and hope to become successful enough to open our own rescue center. We will continue to help the downtrodden and the underdogs - the ones considered "unadoptable" and "lost causes." We will continue to cooperate and assist other rescue groups and shelters, as we are all in this to fight towards a common cause: to make the Inland Empire a No Kill Zone! It takes more than one person to save an animal, so please consider joining our Army. Foster, volunteer, donate, educate, network... we are in this together!
